Ag Day

Ag Day LOCATION: @ Monsanto CHANGE: (same location rain or shine)

The Ag Education Day for Kids at the Prime Beef Festival, sponsored by the Warren County Prime Beef Festival and the Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau, will be held on FRIDAY, September 7th 2018 8:45-11:15 AM (morning only session). The event will be held At the Monsanto Research Farm1677 80th Street (use North entrance) RAIN OR SHINE

This event is for all area schools and their 4th grade students in Warren and Henderson Counties to participate.  This 2018 CHANGE in location permits EZ only one place to go, rain or shine, convinience.

WCPBF President Joe Greenstreet initiated the program in 2003, with the assistance of Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau. The goal of the program is to teach children about the different aspects of agriculture and the important role that it plays in our lives everyday.

We are hoping that talking to kids about showing animals will spark the students’ interest in 4-H.

Jim Oaks, of the Warren County Prime Beef Festival, serves as co-chairman for the event and works with the Farm Bureau to secure the presenters for the different topics, the different pieces of machinery, and anything else that is needed to make the event successful. Jim is instrumental is securing the location for the event and now both backup and fair weather locations are one in the same, it should simplify school preparation for attending the event inclement weather or not!

All of the fourth grade classes from Henderson and Warren Counties will be invited to attend either a morning or afternoon session. The students and teaches will rotate through eight different learning stations with each session being approximately 15 minutes in length.  The learning stations in previous years included: Machinery; Soils & Fertilizer; Soybeans & Parts of Soybean Plant; Beef and How to Care for and Prepare a Show Calf; Hogs & How to Care for and Prepare a Show Hog; Poultry & Sheep and How to Care for and Show Poultry and How to Care for and Prepare a Show Sheep.

The two organizations work well together and look forward to sponsoring the event in an effort to make the students more aware of the importance of agriculture.
